THE ENCHANTED HALF MARATHON RELAY

Split the distance and share the magic!  Leg 1 of the relay is 5.8 miles and is generally uphill while leg 2 is 7.3 miles and generally downhill (although a couple of climbs are included).

 

At the Relay Transition in Los Olivos, the 1st runner will receive their medal, recovery goody bag, and transportation to the Finish Festival. The 2nd leg runner, on meeting their partner, will run to the finish line in Solvang.

  • Where does the race start & finish?
    The half marathon race will start in downtown Solvang at the intersection of Atterdag Road and Laurel Ave. Solvang Park will act as the hub for pre-race activities including Gear Check and Race Day Packet Pick-Up. Relay leg #1 runners will start here. 555 Atterdag Rd Solvang, CA 93463 The race will finish in downtown Solvang on Copenhagen Dr at the intersection of Copenhagen Drive and 2nd Street. Relay leg #2 runners will finish here. 1639 Copenhagen Dr Solvang, CA 93463 Relay Leg #2 runners will start at the relay transition zone. Leg #1 runners will finish here and handoff to leg #2 runners. 2890 Grand Ave. Los Olivos, CA 93441
  • Aid Stations
    Aid stations will be provided at the following locations: Miles 3, 5.8, 6.9, 8.3, 9.9 and 11.7 Water and Ghost Hydration will be provided at all aid stations on course. An endurance gel will be provided at the aid station at Mile 8.3.
  • Gear Check
    Clear gear check bags will be available for pick-up at the race expo. Luggage or large bags will not be accepted. Gear check will be located in Solvang Park ahead of the race beginning at 5:30am. While the start line is at the intersection of Atterdag Road and Laurel Ave, the main hub of pre-race activity will be at Solvang Park. Gear check will stay in the same location and will not move during the race. The finish line is adjacent to Solvang Park which will make it easy to pick up your gear after you finish. Gear check will close at 11:00am.
  • Awards
    The top 3 non-binary, male and female finishers in the half marathon will receive an overall award. The top 3 non-binary, male and female finishers in each age group in the half marathon will receive an award. Please see the age groups below: 20 & Under, 21-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+ The top relay team in the following divisions will also receive an award. Please see the divisions below: All Non-Binary All Female All Male Co-Ed Awards must be picked up on-site at the Results tent. There is no team competition at this event.
  • Are backpacks / headphones allowed on course?
    Please do not bring any large bags/backpacks on to the course. For security, they are subject to being searched and/or removed. Fanny packs, small bags, and hydration packs are allowed. Headphones are allowed, although we do recommend using running headphones or having one AirPod/Ear Bud out, or using the "transparency" mode (if available) so you can be aware of your surroundings and the course.
  • Is this event compatible for handcycle or wheelchair participants?
    While handcycle and wheelchair participants can participate on this course, it is discouraged because of the hilly terrain. Please reach out to sbwinecountryhalf@motivsports.com for more information.
  • Are strollers allowed on course?
    Yes, strollers are allowed on the course. For the safety of everyone, we do kindly ask that all participants with strollers/joggers start at the back of the last corral.
  • What is the minimum age to participate in the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon?
    Participants must be 13 years old on race day to participate in the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon.
  • Can someone else pick up my race packet?
    If you are unable to attend the Race Expo, you may send a proxy to pick up your race packet on your behalf. If you'd like to have a proxy pick-up on your behalf, you must have signed your digital participant waivers when registering for the event. To verify if you've signed your participant waivers, please visit your ACTIVE MyEvents account and locate your Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon entry. If you have not signed your waiver yet, you will see a large red message that your waivers have not yet been signed. Please send your proxy with a copy of driver's license (digital picture is OK) and your confirmation email to expedite the pick-up process. Confirmation emails are sent the week of the race. Proxies may only pick-up packets for up to 3 people.
  • How can I add Race Extras (race day packet pick-up, wine festival passes, race photos, etc) to my registration?
    Race Extras can be selected during registration. If you did not purchase at the time of registration, log into your MyEvents.ACTIVE.com account, find your race entry, and click the “Purchase merchandise” button to add Race Extras to your registration.
  • How can I transfer my entry to another participant?
    You may not give or sell your number to anyone else. However, bib transfers are allowed for an administration charge of $25 and must be processed through your ACTIVE MyEvents account no later than May 3, 2024. If you transfer your bib, you will receive a refund (minus the $25 administration charge) once the new participant signs up. The new runner will need to pay the full entry fee at the time of the transfer. Log into your ACTIVE.com account and select “Transfer registration” to begin the process.
  • What is your refund policy?
    Refund Policy: All registration fees are non-refundable. This race, in accordance with management executives, city officials and local law enforcement has the authority to cancel any of the events for emergency purposes such as, but not limited to, inclement weather, a pandemic, or threat of terrorism. If such emergency conditions force cancellation, refunds cannot be provided.
  • I am having trouble getting registered. Can someone help me?
